Dodge Forum Takes a Look Back At a V8-powered 2019

2019 year review Dodge Forum

Like a Dodge Demon at the drag strip, 2019 seemed to go by very quickly. Here’s some of our favorite moments at Dodge Forum.

You know what they say: “time flies by when you’re having fun!” And it sure seems like 2019 flew by quite rapidly. From the Ram being named top truck at the beginning of the year to privateers making record-breaking drag passes in their stock Demon and the merger with PSA, 2019 was full of high praise, high speed and high hopes. Sadly there was one part of 2019 had us wave goodbye to a man who arguably saved Chrysler from going under.

Picking out a few significant moments from 2019 means there’s bound to be something we left out. But that’s where you, faithful reader, can chime in and tell us your favorite parts of 2019 as well. We’d love to hear them!

Ram Named ‘North American Truck of the Year’ at Detroit Auto Show

2019 year review Dodge Forum

Ram started out the year riding a wave of good energy. In the tough territory of Detroit, Ram was named North American Truck of the Year at the North American International Auto Show. If Ford, Chevy, or any others felt a bit snuffed, well, we say they should have built a better truck.

Super Bowl Ad Shows Dodge SRT Lineup Raising Pure Hell in Atlanta

2019 year review Dodge Forum

Super Bowl LIII was hosted in Georgia for 2019, and the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams weren’t the only heavy hitters there. Dodge’s pre-game commercial focusing on their SRT line let some V8 muscle out on the streets of Atlanta. With “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” as a backing tune, Dodge continued their history of making truly epic Super Bowl ads.

Hellcat Charger Flawlessly Walks Camaro ZL1 on Highway

2019 year review Dodge Forum

If SRT ever had a dating profile, it would probably go something like this: “Hello, my name is Mopar. I like superchargers, high octane fuel, burnouts, and relaxing pulls that put big gaps on Chevrolets that try to drag race me.”

Ram Rebel Splashes Its Way to Victory at the Texas Off-Road Invitational

2019 year review Dodge Forum

When we got our hands on a Ram 1500 Rebel, we did what any rational person would. We took it mudding! General Sam’s Offroad Park hosted the event for the Texas Motor Press Association, and with it came all of the Rebel’s competition, too. At the end of the day though, there was only one winner. You guessed it, the Rebel.

Widebody Charger Hellcat Rules the Road With Massive Flares & Tires

2019 year review Dodge Forum

One of our favorite reveals from 2019 was the Charger Hellcat Widebody. Additional width of 3.5 inches house massive 305/35/20 (!) tires in those flared arches. Powered by the 707-horsepower motor, your v-max on this mean machine is 196 miles per hour. It all leads up to a this car having the record as the fastest and most powerful sedan in the world.

Lee Iacocca, Savior of the Chrysler Corporation, Dies at 94

2019 year review Dodge Forum

We waved goodbye this year to Lee Iacocca. At the age of 94, he passed on July 2, but his impact on Chrysler and the auto industry as a whole is what he will most be remembered by. Iacocca is remembered for being an important figure behind the Ford Mustang, but for us, he’s also remembered for saving Chrysler from almost certain extinction. With innovative and groundbreaking ideas like the minivan and the compact K-car, Iacocca is the reason why Mopars are still here today.

Ram Celebrates 10 Years of Independence as a Solo FCA Brand

Ram Celebrates 10 Years of Independence as a Solo FCA Brand

Back in 2009, Dodge spun off Ram into its own brand, which helped them tremendously in their respective segments. With a team dedicated to truck people, and truck stuff, Ram was able to introduce innovative features and focus purely on their target audience. Congratulations to Ram for their 10th anniversary!

Dodge Celebrates Challenger’s 50th Birthday at L.A. Auto Show

2019 year review Dodge Forum

For the Challenger’s 50th anniversary, Dodge invited owners of both old and new versions to attend the Los Angeles Auto Show. Rows upon rows of Challengers were present for the golden birthday party, and as a gift for attending, guests were treated to the new colors of Cinnamon Stick and Gold Rush colors for the upcoming 50th Anniversary package.

‘Chonky’ Redeye Challenger Hellcat Widebody Looks Evil as Ever

2019 year review

One of Dodge Forum’s most popular posts in 2019 came from this 3D rendering we found on Instagram. Created by Timmothy Emmanuel, he took the Challenger Redeye, and turned it to 11. Though it is not real, we love the super wide fenders, exaggerated sills, jutting from splitter and massive tires. In all honesty, it looks like something real you’d find at SEMA who wants to show off their handiwork with composites.

Stock Dodge Demon Beats SRT’s Official Quarter-mile Time

2019 year review

The year wrapped up with the Peugeot Group merging with FCA. While the ramifications of that are yet to be seen, we hope big horsepower stays with Dodge. We want to continue seeing things like this; a privateer in a stock Dodge Demon besting SRT’s official fastest time in the quarter-mile.

What was your favorite highlight of the year? Let us know in the forums!
