With their second ad, Dodge decided to drop the serious tone and get a little silly.

The Super Bowl is an opportunity to highlight the very best the NFL has to offer. It’s also the most watched television program of the year, so major companies, such as Dodge, use it to showcase their latest and greatest products. This year, Dodge decided to go in two completely different directions when promoting their vehicles.

A lot of the discussion surrounding Dodge’s two Super Bowl ads seemed to focus on the commercial featuring a Martin Luther King, Jr. speech. That ad, for whatever reason, is receiving a lot of press for the automaker. But you know what? That wasn’t the only ad Dodge put out last Sunday. They also decided to have some fun!

How can you show just how tough, rugged, and generally badass the new Ram is? Well, you fill your commercial with Vikings! Not the football team, even though the Super Bowl was played in Minnesota, home of the Vikings NFL team. See what they did there?

Super Bowl Dodge Ad Features Real Vikings

In this Ram commercial, a group of Vikings are seen piling into a brand-new Ram, while a version of Queen’s massive hit “We Will Rock You” is blaring. They fill the cab and bed with big warriors, shields, weapons, and even fish. The Vikings proceed to drive through hills and snow, pulling their massive ship behind them. Then, as they reach water, the Vikings flip the script by using the boat to pull the Ram. This all comes to a head when they reach Minnesota, where all Vikings are welcome.

The commercial is wild and definitely silly. Clearly, the folks over at the Dodge Marketing Department had a blast making ad.

For those of us that have followed all the news about the upcoming Ram, the Viking commercial probably didn’t do much to add to your excitement. However, there are probably a lot of potential truck buyers out there that kept humming the Queen song and imagining themselves singing it at the top of their lungs in a new truck. And if that’s the case, Dodge joins the Eagles as winners on Sunday.
