Hellcat-Swapped, Carbon Fiber Nissan Patrol Is Pure Madness

Mad Nissan Patrol with Hellcat power and a carbon body is about as crazy as custom builds get.

While it may look somewhat familiar, most Americans may not be aware of what, exactly, the Nissan Patrol is. That’s because this particular SUV is sold in Japan and other parts of the world, but has only somewhat surfaced in the U.S. as the Infiniti QX80 and Nissan Armada. Regardless, the Nissan Patrol is a pretty darn popular utility across the globe, and it’s also a vehicle that Saeed Bin Suloom loves, and has owned several custom examples of, including one with a twin-turbo V10 and another that’s been treated to a 6×6 conversion. His latest – recently featured at Engine Swap Depot – is easily the wildest and most intriguing, however, for a number of reasons.

Suloom called on Formula Performance Center to complete his latest project, which is based on a Y61 Nissan Patrol, but not much is left from that previously-normal SUV. The biggest modification has arguably taken place under the hood, where the original motor is long gone, replaced by a supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi powerplant from a Hellcat, which has been treated to long tube headers, a MaxxECU Pro ECU, and smaller pulleys to extract more boost.

The result is an output of 840 horsepower, which flows to all four wheels – thanks to a conversion kit – via a beefed-up manual gearbox, transfer case, and 3.90-geared differentials in the front and rear. Ceika six-piston brakes help slow this wild machine down in a hurry, and are covered up by a set of forged carbon Raceline 20×10″ wheels wrapped with 305/50-R20 Nitto N555 tires and suspended by JRZ adjustable coilovers.

As if all of that wasn’t enough, FPC also replaced all of the Patrol’s body panels with carbon fiber units to shave weight, though the exposed material also looks pretty darn awesome, too. That theme carries over to the inside as well, where you’ll find a carbon dash and various other bits and pieces, which are contrasted by bright yellow upholstery. Subtlety certainly isn’t the in the cards, with a giant yellow Hellcat logo adorning the outside, but with a build this insane, it certainly doesn’t have to fly under the radar.
