Mecum Dallas Mopar Collection

Whether you’re in the market for a vintage Mopar vehicle or just dreaming of owning one, you won’t want to miss this huge sale.

Whether you’re in the market for a fine classic Mopar or just love to watch them roll across the auction block, you’re going to want to block September 4-7 on your calendar. That’s because these are the dates when Mecum’s Dallas auction takes place, and his particular event is chock full of incredible Mopar machinery. This group joins an auction estimate of over 1,000 incredible vehicles in what promises to be the best sale of the year so far.

The highlight of the sale, at least to us, is Canada’s Peter Swainson Collection. This grouping consists of 10 ultra-rare and exclusive Mopar vehicles from a lifelong fan of the brand. Swainson’s father purchased a dealership back in 1971, which sparked that particular love affair. Eventually, the younger Swainson took over the reins from his father, running the business while also building his own dream collection of cars.

That collection begins with a restored, one-of-503 1969 Dodge Daytona sporting the lowest serial number designated for Daytona production. And it’s quite simply a masterpiece. The Bright Blue Metallic beauty is just one-of-139 equipped with the 440 engine and 4-speed transmission, and is easily one of the finest examples we’ve seen in quite some time.

That beastly NASCAR dominating ride is joined by a very special a 1971 Plymouth Hemi GTX with a matching-numbers 426 Hemi. The GTX is one of just 19 produced with an automatic transmission in 1971. It too is fresh off a full restoration and sporting a host of desirable options including the A34 Super Track Pak with Dana Suregrip 4.10 gears.

In addition, there are nearly a dozen other personal collections hitting the block at Mecum Dallas. That includes the Tommy Cronk Collection of Odessa, Texas. Though this particular group consists of more than Mopar vehicles, it also features some enticing lots. That includes a one-of-80 1968 Dodge Hemi Dart LO23 Super Stock. This incredible piece of drag racing history was built by Dodge before heading to legendary parts maker Hurst for final assembly.
