New Small Scale Dodge Charger Hellcat Coming in Gulf Livery
Dodge Charger Hellcat from GreenLight Collectibles was designed by the founder of DodgeForum.
Since the Hellcat name was introduced, Dodge Challenger and Charger diecast small scale cars have been insanely hot with collectors. Several companies offer Hellcat cars in 1/64 scale, but it has been a few years since we have seen a new option come to market, but that changed today. The Diecast Pub – the official retail store of GreenLight Collectibles – recently introduced a new Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat in Gulf Racing livery.
This Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is the first car in the new TDP Exclusive Collector Driven series, and both the car and the series have an interesting tie to DodgeForum. The car was designed by Amanda Rall, better known to DodgeForum OGs as DodgeGirl19 – the founder of this website.
Amanda also came up with the Collector Driven series name, and as a nod to help involvement in the program, the MEOWPAR license plate from our 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is found on the newest GreenLight Hellcat Charger.
Collector Driven Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat
As you can see here, the new Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat from the GreenLight Collectibles TDP Exclusive Collector Driven series is finished in the familiar Gulf Racing livery. This includes the light blue paint with the Gulf Oil logo on the rear doors and contrasting orange stripes on the top and sides.
There are a total of four versions of this Hellcat Charger; one clean and one dirty, along with Green Machine versions of each. Green Machine are the limited production “chase” versions which are the most sought after by collectors.
Green Machines all have unique green attributes which allow them to stand apart from the normal production units and in the case of this new Hellcat Charger, the Green Machine has green stripes rather than orange and the body is gloss raw metal rather than blue.
Finally, as mentioned above, all versions of this Hellcat Charger have a Michigan license plate reading MEOWPAR, which matches the plates on Dodgegirl19’s own Hellcat Challenger.
How Dodgegirl19 Designed a Diecast Car
While Amanda is no longer active here on DodgeForum, she founded and ran the site through the mid-2000s. She is still active in the Dodge world, but rather than the 1994 Ram Sport she had back when this site was founded, she drives a 2017 Challenger Hellcat.
She is also an avid GreenLight collector, having hundreds of Mopar Green Machines and running two of the largest GreenLight-focused communities on Facebook. She has helped the company announce the launch of new products for a few years, along with having a hand in announcing GreenLight’s retail store, The Diecast Pub.
While working with GreenLight to launch The Diecast Pub, Amanda and her fellow FB group GreenLight community admin Derek Twigg were asked to come up with an idea for a new car and a new series that would cater specifically to what collectors want. Both knowing the popularity of Hellcat collectibles, they suggested a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat. Next, to attract the masses of devout collectors of Gulf Racing items, they suggested the familiar blue-and-orange livery and finally, Amanda came up with the series name Collector Driven.
After all, the input for this first vehicle came completely from two die-hard collectors and there is no question that the collector community will be quick to snatch up these new Hellcats. The car, livery and name were approved and on March 7, GreenLight Collectibles announced the new series and the new Hellcat Charger.
Price and Availability
If you are not familiar with GreenLight Collectibles, they are higher quality diecast cars with more realistic proportions and greater detail than your average Hot Wheels, but they also cost a more. GreenLight offers their mainstream models at big box stores for around $5.99, but these new Dodge Charger SRT Hellcats are exclusively offered by The Diecast Pub with a price of $9.99 each or $59.99 for a case of six.
However, when you buy a case of six, you also get a Green Machine, so you get seven cars which each cost a little less and, most importantly, you get one of the sought after chase cars. We imagine that most collectors will order a case to get a Green Machine, then they will have some regular versions to sell, so we may see some of these turn up on eBay or other websites that offer diecast cars.
The new Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat from GreenLight officially went on sale on The Diecast Pub website on March 7 for pre-order with the plan of deliveries starting in September.
