Dodge Global RallyCross fans rejoice – Travis Pastrana will be back in the #199 Red Bull Racing Dart when the X Games Los Angeles rallycross event takes place this Sunday.  As has been the case all season, Bryce Menzies will be piloting the other Travis Pastrana Racing-owned Dodge Dart rally car as he attempts to make his first final round of the 2013 schedule.  Unfortunately, victory wont come easy as the Los Angeles X Games has a field of 18 drivers battling for the top spot on the podium, making the LA event the biggest this season.

It has been a rough year for the Dodge Dart rally team and Travis Pastrana Racing but the biggest issue has been Travis’ absence throughout the season.  Due to his obligations with Jack Roush Racing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Pastrana has been forced to miss 3 of the first 5 GRC events of the season.  In the events where he has competed, he has been in the hunt (finishing 4th and 7th) but when he has not been there – the Dodge rally program has failed to make much of an impact.

Timur Timerzyanov has not done a bad job filling in for Pastrana in the #199 Red Bull Dart – qualifying for the final race in 2 of the 3 events in which he has competed – but his best finish of the season was an 8th at the last event in Bristol.  Timur has done better than Bryce Menzies this season (and he should, considering that he is one of the top names in the European RallyCross association) but there is no question that Pastrana gives the Dodge rally team a much stronger chance of victory.

While Travis Pastrana could give Dodge fans a chance to finally celebrate a 2013 GRC victory, Bryce Menzies will continue his efforts to advance into the final race.  Menzies joined Pastrana Racing this year on a full time basis and although he has competed in every event, the transition from off-road truck racing to Global RallyCross has not been a smooth one for the truck champ.  Menzies’ best finish of the season came at Bristol where he finished 13th out of 16 cars.  In the other 4 events, he has finished in the bottom three of every event including finishing last twice.

The Global RallyCross portion of the ongoing Los Angeles X Games is schedule to run at 5pm (EST) on Sunday August 4th and you can catch the racing action on ESPN.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
