Ram 1500 Sublime Green Sport, New Color Rebels

A new Ram 1500 Sport in bright Sublime Green debuts at the New York Auto Show, joining the new color options for the Ram 1500 Rebel.

FCA has some monster debuts planned for this week’s 2017 New York International Auto Show including the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and the Hellcat-powered 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. The Ram brand has some news as well, and to get the truck information a bit of time in the sun before the high powered monsters debut later this week – Ram has rolled out its news ahead of the Big Apple show.

First off, we have two new colors for the Ram 1500 Rebel – Blue Streak and Delmonico Red (which was revealed last week at the Houston Auto Show). These colors are offered in monotone or two-tone with black lowers and buyers who want even more black trim can add the Rebel Black Appearance Package with each of these new colors. These two new exterior colors are available in rear-drive or 4WD and they come with no additional charge.

Next, the Ram Limited models with the big RAM across the tailgate can now be ordered with body-colored lettering on the tailgate instead of chrome. Buyers can also get the full-length running boards in body color rather than chrome. The body colored tailgate lettering on the Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 Limited models costs $195.

Finally, the biggest news from the Ram brand in New York is the Ram 1500 Sublime Green Sport package. This bright green Ram comes in the striking Sublime Green with a body colored grille surround, the performance hood with black stripes, new black 22” semi-gloss wheels on 4×2 models, 20” semi-gloss black wheels on 4×4 models, and black exterior badging – including the Ram’s head on the front end, the tailgate badge and the body-side badging.

On the inside, the Ram 1500 Sublime Green Sport model comes with cloth sport bucket seats in black with Sublime accent stitching and anodized black trim throughout the cabin. Also, buyers can opt up to the Premium Sound package.

The Ram 1500 Sublime Green Sport is only available in the Club Cab configuration and while buyers can pick between 2- and 4-wheel drive, the 5.7L Hemi and the 8-speed automatic transmission are both standard equipment. This package will be in dealerships next month with a base MSRP of $45,740 (not including destination).

This is the first time that Sublime Green has been offered on the Ram 1500, and with this bright green proving to be so popular with the 2015 Dodge Challenger – we can expect it to be popular on this sporty half-ton truck as well.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
