Dodge Ram 50 Proves the 90s Are Alive and Well
1989 Ram 50 might be the best thing we’ve seen in a long while, and it’s currently up for auction on Cars and Bids.
This may be the best relic of ’90s car culture that is still on the roads today. This single cab Dodge Ram 50 wears a paint scheme that you absolutely can not miss. If this thing goes by and you don’t take note, you’re likely unqualified to have a driver’s license.
This masterful work of nostalgia is currently listed for sale on the auction website Cars and Bids. Frankly, if the winner of this car doesn’t immediately take it to the first RADwood event after taking delivery of it, they’re doing the world a disservice.
Usually, we’d be chomping at the bit to tell you that this old Ram has a manual transmission. Yes, that’s obviously something we’re excited about, but the rest of the truck kind of blows the transmission out of the water, don’t you think? The half and half paint job with complimenting checkerboard is seriously mesmerizing. Furthermore, the neon green and pink accenting keep you constantly wondering what you should be looking at.
As if the paint scheme isn’t enough, the lowered ride height and gorgeous chrome Weld wheels are sure to keep your eyes locked on this thing for an extended period of time. We’re just getting started here, too. No, we’re not talking about the pink elevated mirrors or the color-matched windshield wiper blades, as cool as those are. This truck has a few more tricks up its sleeve.
The ultimate show truck
That’s right, air ride suspension putting this truck flat on the ground isn’t quite enough to stop the show. In addition, the bed has a custom pneumatic setup to tilt it for the ultimate flex. So gather ’round, ladies and gentlemen. It’s tilting time.
Furthermore, the interior carries over the phenomenal styling, too.
The remarkably 70s-eqsue tweed-like door panels and seat upholstery is complimented quite elegantly with bright green components. Bringing it all home is the pink shag carpeting around the center console. This. Thing. Rules.
Powering this legendary Ram 50 is a standard 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine with a single Weber carburetor. It isn’t drastically modified, and you’d be forgiven for missing the aftermarket air cleaner housing. There are plenty of other distractions to keep your eyes away from the engine bay. Sure, it isn’t fast. But, does it need to be? If it goes by too quickly, onlookers won’t have an adequate opportunity to look it over. That, in its own right, is criminal.
Someone has to buy this thing before we make some questionable financial decisions. This is a bit of a unique auction scenario, though. It isn’t like most special auctions. Typically, we have to end with a plea to the new owner to actually take a vehicle out and drive it. However, we have a feeling that won’t be a concern in this case. We can all but guarantee the next owner of this old Ram is going to take it everywhere and anywhere. Wouldn’t you?
