Roadkill Nights is Being Moved to Pontiac

Roadkill Nights moved to the heart of Pontiac, Michigan to make event more accessible.

Roadkill Nights, a one-day high horsepower circus revolving around burning rubber and screaming engines, is being moved to a different city in Michigan. Following the event’s western stop in Las Vegas, Motor Trend’s record breaking event will be held in downtown Pontiac, Michigan. In previous years, the event was held in Detroit. Pontiac’s Mayor, Tim Griemel, is definitely excited to see the action take over the downtown area. Not only will it bring business to the sleepy city, but will also bring some solace to the locals.

“We are thrilled that Roadkill Nights is staying in Pontiac and moving to our downtown,” said Greimel. “The move downtown will reduce noise to residential neighborhoods, while bringing more activity, customers and patrons to support downtown restaurants and other business establishments.”

For MotorTrend’s Eric Schwab, a new venue means new opportunities. In previous years, Dodge as a name sponsor brought a ton of incredible cars to drag race against, test drive, and gawk at. This year won’t be any different, but it means the event will be more accessible to more people. This year’s event is scheduled for August 12.

“With an expanded footprint and a new venue, we are thrilled to bring the excitement of street-legal drag racing and the dynamic experience of MotorTrend Presents Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge to downtown Pontiac,” said Schwab. “If you’ve ever dreamed of witnessing the adrenaline of drag racing on Woodward Avenue, this is the event for you. Whether you’re a drag racer, a car enthusiast or simply looking for a fun car festival with your family, Roadkill Nights guarantees an unforgettable experience.”

Earlier this year, Dodge utilized the highly-anticipated event to dramatically announce the “Last Call” Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 — Dodge’s way of sending off the Demon moniker. The final production year of the Demon makes a ball-busting 1,025 horsepower, and after being lowered via helicopter in front of over 40,000 attendees, it was more than a worthy send off. It begs the question: What do Dodge and MotorTrend have planned for this year?
