Somebody Paid $80K for a Wrecked Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat
Though it’s basically brand new, this Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat was involved in an accident that seemingly didn’t diminish its value much.
While most V8-powered, rear-wheel-drive vehicles have gone the way of the dinosaur in recent years, the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat has managed to beat the odds. The wickedly quick SUV continues to be sold today, even as its muscle car counterparts are no more, and there’s simply nothing else like it on the market. Thus, perhaps it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to learn that someone recently shelled out big bucks for a Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat that has been in a bit of an accident.
This 2024 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat recently hit the virtual auction block at Bring a Trailer, and at first glance, it looks like a nice, unabused example with just 253 miles on the clock. The seller just purchased it in September 2024, so they certainly didn’t have it long – but this isn’t exactly what one might call a flip, per se.
Rather, this Diamond Black Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat was involved in an accident that – according to the CarFax – caused “moderate damage” to the right-front portion of the SUV. The seller added that the hood was repaired and the bumper and right-front fender were replaced and repainted as a result, leaving it looking good as new, anyway.
Regardless, the airbag was deployed in that accident, which had to have been a heart breaker for the seller, who shelled out $105k for this Durango SRT Hellcat new, just a few months ago. It’s a well-equipped machine with the Plus Package and SRT Black Package, to boot, which is complemented by Demonic Red Laguna leather inside the cabin. Regardless, the fact that this almost brand new Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat was involved in an accident -permanently scarring its value moving forward – someone still shelled out $80k to bring it home, which is a pretty eye-opening result, indeed. The seller likely secured some sort of diminished value claim from their insurance provider, so they certainly made out good here.
While we’re not so sure that the new owner will be getting their return on investment if or when they choose to part ways with this supercharged SUV, perhaps that wasn’t the intention at all. Rather, maybe they just wanted a Durango SRT Hellcat that’s virtually new and at a bit of a discount, and if that’s the case, we’d say they made out just fine.
