The 1968 Charger is an automotive icon. You’ll never believe the dirty secret that is hiding under the skin of this twin turbo V10 Charger RTR.

Dodge has built a lot of good looking cars over the years, but the 1968-69 Charger is one of the coolest. The movies made it the star of the show. In the movie Bullitt, the black 1968 Charger R/T was driven by the bad guys, while Steven McQueen chased them in a 1968 Ford Mustang fastback. The chase was through the hills of San Fransisco and is one of the best chase scenes in film history. On the small screen, a 1969 Charger named the General Lee was an iconic star of The Dukes of Hazzard television show. Between the fame, the stunning good looks, and the sound of its 440 cubic-inch V8, the Charger is famous around the world.

In fact, in Sweden these muscle cars are very popular to own and build. The winter months are very long and cold. This means cars guys are stuck in the garage building rather than driving. It was all this cold weather which helped this beautiful 1968 Charger RTR be built. In this video, Jay Leno’s Garage has the owner/builder Johan and his team of builder friends on to show off their creation. On the outside it appears to be a 1968 Charger with some large wheels, but it is a complete monster underneath.

Starting with a old Charger race car shell Johan and his team went to work to build something unique. Under the hood is a twin turbo V10 engine out of the Dodge Viper. The motor is capable of 1,500 horsepower, but is currently running a mild 1,000 horsepower. The body work is all completely custom. The fenders are wider to fit the massive wheels, 24 inches in the front and 26×15 inches in the rear. Under this MOPAR muscle machine is a dirty little secret. The Charger RTR is rolling on a C6 Corvette chassis. The beauty and craftsmanship makes up for the hidden Chevrolet parts. So, let us know what you think in the comments.
