Vintage Charger Wagon Rendered to Haul Family & Groceries…Fast
At some point, everybody grows up and settles down, but who says you have to trade your beloved Charger for some SUV?
Wagons and shooting brakes have retained a cult popularity over the years, despite the fact that they’ve largely disappeared from automaker’s lineups. At least here in America. Over in Europe, many luxury car makers still build and sell wagons to folks who aren’t willing to compromise performance for utility. That’s somewhat the premise behind this wild Dodge Charger wagon rendering, too. Dreamed up by automotive digital artist Al Yasid Oozeear, the idea here is “when you got family, but Charger is life.”
Yes, this is probably exactly what Dom Toretto from the Fast & Furious franchise will drive when he inevitably settles down and has kids. And who would blame him? We certainly don’t want to give up our muscle cars for some vanilla crossover or SUV. Or worse, a minivan. We’d have no qualms tooling around in a wagon like this, however, even if wagons don’t exactly have the greatest reputation around these parts.
But make no mistake – this is not your father’s family truckster. This Charger has evolved a bit, and Oozeear’s latest rendering shows it wearing an all-carbon fiber body. But most of the rest hasn’t changed. Including widebody fenders that cover massive rolling stock. Nor what appears to be a serious, modern suspension setup underneath. And we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the giant blower protruding from the hood, of course.
That isn’t to say that this Charger isn’t practical, of course. It appears that there’s a net inside to separate the rear cargo, in fact. Perhaps to keep your groceries from hitting you in the back of the head on the way home. Or maybe it’s there to keep your kids corralled. And with a full cage inside, you can easily explain to your wife that it’s gotta be safer than some Volvo.
The unfortunate thing, of course, is that this Charger wagon is just a rendering. Not a real life thing. But we wouldn’t be surprised if somebody built one. This thing would be perfect for SEMA, or perhaps F&F 30, or something along those lines. Because at some point, everybody grows up and settles down. Even Dom Toretto.
