Wicked Wednesday: 1970 Dodge Coronet Twin Turbo Hemi Goes from Clone to Conqueror

1970 Dodge Coronet

Wicked 1970 Dodge Coronet was a 440 Super Bee clone that has been transformed into 600 horsepower restomod monster.

Any 1970 Dodge Coronet that you see today is cool. But a 1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee 440 Six Pack is Mopar royalty. However, they are a bit rare, so it is not uncommon for lower spec Coronets to be modified into 440 Super Bee clones. That was the case with the car you see here. However, turning it into a Super Bee clone was not the end of the journey for this car. It entered the shop at PRO-SPEED Autoworks as a clone and it exited as a 1970 Dodge Coronet Twin Turbo Hemi that can conquer all.

This week’s “Wicked Wednesday” is all about this 1970 Dodge Coronet Twin Turbo Hemi. The car was built by the folks at PRO-SPEED Autoworks. However, all the custom interior bits were done by Pro Auto Custom Interiors. The car was recently at their shop for some finishing touches when Scott DuPre from the ScottieDTV YouTube channel caught up with it. He speaks to Steve Holcomb, the owner of Pro Auto Custom Interiors. In this video we get all the details that went into the interior build as well as an overview of the entire build. This is a bad ass looking car that has the performance to back it up. Let’s take a closer look.

The Look

Are you a super villain with a penchant for Mopar muscle? This might be the car for you. Just look at this thing. The 1970 Dodge Coronet already has a distinct and menacing look. But black it out and put it on an air suspension and it just looks down right mean. If a bunch of cars were hanging out at the playground this would be the one that ended up with all the lunch money. But a super villain car has to have the muscle to back up the looks and this car brings the muscle.

The Power

Under the hood is a 5.7L Hemi engine with a pair of 54-millimeter turbos shoving air down its throat. The engine is hooked up to a TCI 4L80 automatic transmission. Villains don’t have time to shift gears. The car puts out right around 600 horsepower to the wheels. And that is with the boost turned down. The owner of this car wanted to keep things conservative so there is a lot more power on the table should it be needed. The Magnaflow exhaust ensures this car sounds as evil as it looks. Other upgrades include a QA1 suspension, Wilwood brakes, Rotiform QLB wheels and of course that Ridetech air ride suspension.

The Interior

The interior is blacked out to match the exterior. Black leather with black stitching ensures the menacing look continues inside. The back seats have been removed and are replaced with speaker boxes and storage compartments. A villain needs extra space to store all of their, um, tools. For seating the driver and passenger will be in a pair of modern looking custom high back buckets.

The Video

This car is such a joy to behold that you just have to see and hear it in the video below. You don’t have to be a super villain to own this beast. But it wouldn’t hurt. And if you aren’t the villainous type this Coronet might just pull you over to the dark side.
