Why not wait until the 2010 Ram 2500 and 3500 are available? They have the optional built in controller. Looking at the pictures it should mount in the 1500 and wiring shouldn't be any more difficult than an aftermarket controller. Just a thought.

Pictures of my rather unorthodox brake controller mounting here:

Go to the bottom of the page. Not necessarily for every one but it works for me.

I will try to post a picture tomorrow. I've been grading my yard and laying sod for 3 days, and I have at least 2 or 3 more days of work to go! Put the truck and the brake controller to good use though!

I kept the harness out of my '04 Dak and used it in my Ram. mounted it under the ignition down toward me right knee. seems to fit just fine. When I get some pics I'll post.

Did you have to drill a hole in the back for the harness?

This is where I mounted my controller. It's not the best controller on the market but it works very well and I already had it so I didn't want to buy a new one. There are two screws arleady on the bottom of the dash so I used the one on the left because I could not find a way to mount the controller after mounting the bracket with the screw on the right.

The cubby hole is designed in such a way that I had to take my dremel and cut off both sides about 1.5" from the front and almost the hole top. It squeezes in there perfectly. I like the look of it...nice and clean. And if I ever sell the truck the piece shouldnt be too much $$ to replace.
