I repeat my original statement (Check the manual if you don't believe me!) On my 95 Avenger, the AC button has 3 positions - off, amber, green. If you press it on to amber, the AC compressor cycles off and on, if you press it again to green, the AC compressor runs all the time. Once again and it is off - end of facts!
I'm not doubting you as mine is a 97 and mine is as I stated above.

Yes - apparently the discontinued the 3 position switch sometime after the '95 - I noticed that on on I looked at. Not sure if '96 had it or not, but I'm glad mine has it - comes in handy!!!

Believe it or not, the AC circuit also goes through the ECM - might be a bad ECM. BTW, the system has to be almost completely out of freon before the low pressuer switch kicks off. He states he is getting cold AC after rigging the compressor.

Myfather in law drove a Toyota van like that for years. He put a thermometer in one of the AC ventshe would tun it on till it got low enough then turn the switch back off.

Here's the correct answer - orange is economy mode, the AC compressor cycles off and on. Green is the max AC mode, the compressor runs all the time, and cools better (use max all the time here in Houston TX!!)
im in houston and i have to agree with you on that one
