Default Headlight Assemblies

Hey all - we all know our plastic headlight covers give over time and cloud and stain. i've tried wet sanding up to 2,000 grit in combination with a heavy-cut rubbing compound, and i can't just make them shine like they should. (no pun intended) i think it's they're the only thing that's keeping my car from looking "great". i'm pretty sure that you can't just buy the "cover", and you have to buy the whole thing at once. but for some reason, i can't wrap my head aroundhow they can cost easily $150 a piece. does anyone know of a place to get good oem headlights for our cars without having to pay an arm and a leg? the cheapest place i found some is here: http://www.kgsengineering.com/specd-...k-p-15972.html

does anyone know where they're available for cheaper? it seems a little over a year ago when i first got the car they were only around $150 or so on ebay, for a whole pair. maybe i was just looking at them wrong, but i know i saw two of them in a thumbnail advertised for ~$150 or so.

so - what can i do?

i used the sandpaper method and i got GREAT results they look like there brand new. did you start out with like 400 wet sand paper and go up from there? i started there and did each grit for 15 mins a peice and then i used 3m rubing compound with a nice big heavy buffer and WOW i couldnt beleave it. i also did my buddys on his 98 sport and they turned out good but i didnt have my buffer at the time so they werent as clear i just used my hand for them...

Nice results 73dart! The before pics of the headlights were horrible. The wetsanding does work though and a buffer DOES help too, lol.

I know what you're saying bud, I used a buffer too and they did shine a lot more than usual and the shine is lasting a lot longer than with just doing it by hand.

8 months after?!! I wish I could say the same. It sprinkles all the time here and I get crap on my poor headlights all the time. So my shine only lasts about2 months before I need to buff it out again...only buff though, I haven't wetsanded in quite a looooooong time
