$500 won't get you much but it will get you an intake and catback. Aside from that, the rest have minimal gains. What are your HP goals? BTW, any HP goal over 200whp for either motor will cost you abut $3k. So, $500 may sound like a lot to you, but HP isn't cheap. Sorry bro, these two motors are pulling a boat. You'll need more money to get the base HP up to even crank HP numbers. Sorry to sound pessimistic because I'm really not, just telling you how these motors are[>:]

The 160 spec was at the motor .... not the wheels ... 120/140 at the wheels is a good figure

I hate that the Avenger has soo little horsepower too. I have a 96 ES and it looks real good as far as the body kit and stock rims go but people pull up to me thinking its fast and its disappointing to have to tell them the sad truth...Why are these engines soo weak? I mean its a fairly light weight car what was the problem that mitsubishi/dodge had getting power out of the engines?

I don't think they were trying to make these cars fast at all. If they were, they would have put a 4g63t motor found in the Eclipse GS-T/GSX or even the 3.0L 6g72...or just something with more power, lol.

yeah it does seem like Dodge just threw it together not thinking of the power issue, but I always think that if my V6 is going to be using more gas it should have more power to show for it. I know they designed my dodge stealth R/T turbo to compete with corvettes of the same and past years, but was always confused as to the lack of power that my avenger had and what its purpose was. It is a very practical car and is a great and stylish method of transport it is just disappointing that something with a cool name and fast look can be soo damn weak The name Avenger sounds like it should be feared...haha... Dont you agree?
