what is the difference between a short ram intake and a cold air...

 

short ram is about where the stock intake ends , the cold air drops down into the front near the ground to allow picking up cooler air outside of the engine bay ...
Only drawback is it is dangerously close to the ground and larger puddles/hard rain can suck water into the engine causing major damage (hydrolocking)
