Default 95 avenger transmission

Heres my question. I have a 95 avenger 6 cylinder with a jasper transmission. The problem is it shifts improperly, jumping in and out of gear. Finally it went into safe mode. I replaced the relays and changed out the trans fluid and filter. Now it will only go into reverse and 1st gear. It sounds like it is slipping when trying to go into 2nd gear. Is there anything else to try before going to a trans. shop? Thanks for any help!

Did you ck for codes? And how is the transmission in your car? Meanning was it just replace or overhauled. The 41te trans does have a problem with the o-ring on the low reverse actumlator cover, will roll and cause the trans to slip in 1st or reverse or both.

Used the right fluid, I've been reading on this board aboout that. Haven't checked the codes yet. It is anew jasper trans. about 2 years old. Has run great till 2 weeks ago. It would slip out of gear in drive when shifting then finally go into the next gear. Rpm's would go up 500 - 1000 then let off gas and then it would go into gear. If I drove on a long straight road without many stoplights the trans would work normally, but in stop and go traffic it would mess up. The fluid level was slightly high last time I checked it so I was hoping that changing the fluid and filter was gloing to solve problem. There are 2 (that I saw) electrical cables going to the transmission, they are covered in gunk. I can't find out what they are and if they are contributing to the problem any hints?

two cables are the speed sensor and the neutral safety switch ...
no codes I'd guess the torque convertor is screwing up ...

I checked the codes and I'm getting 15-no vehicle speed sensor signal,16-knock sensor #1 circuit and 32-EGR solenoid circuit or EGR system failure. I tried replacing the fluid a second time still getting the same result. 1st and reverse only. Both of those gears work great though! Would replacing the speed sensor fix this problem?
