Hi all Im back with more questions, My 1998 Avenger seems to be making a high pitch niose when I accelerate going over 80 km everytime I touch the throttle it kicks in then when I tap it it goes and comes as I do it. Does anyone have any clue on what would cause this.

Is it a squeeling sound or a high pitch whinning sounds?

it is a high pitch whinning noise, and it does not change when accelerating it only starts when you touch the throttle go over 80 k

 

by Whinning sound I mean the sound you hear when you turn your steering wheel too far all the way right or left. Also in some case people who do their own aftermarket stereo setup they having whinning sounds that get higher and lower when accelerationand decelerating.

Check the color and level of you powersteering fluid, also check for leaks,and if you have an aftermarket stereo set up I would check the wiring.

Just for kicks turn your steering wheel all the way left or right and snap the throttle to see if the noise is duplicated that way. Also try it in Drive gear and hold the brake.

 

it sounds Very much like a incorrect installiation of a stero, but it is not the case it sounds like it is coming from just on the other side of the firewall and it sems to have nothingto do with the steering as I can crank the wheels in park and dont hear a thing.

 

could this be somthing to do with the ball joints or bearings?? please help

 

usually bearings the noise will increase as speeds increase ...

 

but would the noise stop as soon as throttle is de-pressed, it seems to only do it going over 80 km then if I stop touching the gas even goinig 120km the noise stops

 

If it means anything, I've noticed a similar noise. It been doing it for the 2 years I have had it but besides being kind of annoying it doesnt seem to be having an impact on the drivability.
