Default trany messing up

Ive got a 2000 venger es.Sometimes the cel will come on and when it does the car wont shift.Autozone checked it and it said it was the tcm.When the light comes on and it wont shift i just unhook the battery and hook it back up and it drives fine after that.Does it sound like a bad ground or something?

TCM= Tranny Control Module ...
It can be a bad connection , corroded plugs , bad sensors , or even the TCM failling

Since the cel has started it takes a couple seconds for it to kick into drive from anyother gear.The car has 111.000 miles on it.

Next time the ck engine lites comes back on, try to remove codes out of tcm. And thereason why the transmission stops shifting is because you are limp in or fail safe mode. which means you only have 2nd gear. So when you do have the codes, post thems.

Angry 98 avenger tranny problem

I too had shifting problems with my 98 veng, long delay to shift from park to drive, reverse was fine. Was told by AAMCO in Pheonix I needed a tranny rebuild. Did that, 2 weeks later and $2k shorter, still have the problem, CEL came on the other day, returned car to AAMCO, they read a multitude of code errors including left CAT failure, O2 sensor. reset codes to see what goes on next.

Looks to be like a possible failed PCM, anyone have any ideas?

Fupkid1, check your tranny fluid, how loud is the clicking of the tranny relays. Does your car slip into gear when it does go into gear?

Hightech24, did AAMCO do anything with the tranny relays? There is a newer version of these relays. Did the clicking of the relays get louder after the rebuild?
