Default Best upgrades for the money?

I recently purchased a 98 avenger w/2.0 normally aspirated dohc. looking for the best upgrades for the money. There is so much out there. I have had many fast cars and want this one to have some kick like my 5.0 had. I have seen some rebuild motors for racing, Turbo kits, and the like. I am leaning to replace the motor, but want to do it as simple as possible, plug n play. what's up - let me know!

Aftermarket turbo kit , or the GSX AWD swaps are the highest horsepower gains

Default more info

I have looked around, and there are many turbo kits available. This guy I know says I might need to be careful about how much boost. My motor has higher compression than that of one equiped with the turbo from the factory. Is this a legitimate concern.

Bad Venge, the AWD link you posted directs me to a jeep site. Couldn't get any info. Coould you be more specific what mods from the GSX you are refering to. I appreciate the feedback!

Default legitimate concern

It's legit. But theres easy fixes for all of them. At the minimum u want to get a 5 layer HD head gasket. If you gonna push up 20+ psi I would also recommend a block stud kit to reinforce your cylinder head's seal with the block. That should at least prevent a detonation. All the other bits and pieces to give you a strong engine should be recommended by whoever is gonna do the job.

04 Electric blue SRT-4; DCR 2.6L stroker, DCR pro-series head, 5 layer HG, MSD ignition, AFC-Neo, 750cc injecter, AGP mounts, Stage 4 clutchmaster, DCR fuel pump with bottleneck delete, 3.5" straight from turbo to the great outdoors. 625hp on race gas. 505hp on 93 octane. 10's all day long baby!!!

Lol, that's "intellitxt." Keywords related to this site will automatically link it. Manual links have one line under it and are red (blue if you already clicked it, as per computer browser cache).

Darryl is right. Your concern is legit, but an aftermarket head gasket with at least 4 metal layers is recommended for any high pressure, force induced motor, especially when pushed beyond 9-10psi (on n/a motor, 12psi is the threshold, but why try when you know what will happen?) will do the trick. Head studs are a good idea, but the reason for them is so you have to worry about them stretching like the stock ones do and most likely already have, thus keeping the head and block from breaking the seal and losing compression and mixing fluids.

If you do want to go with more boost with your 420a, lower the compression with aftermarket rods and pistons; if you want to rev higher, get double spring valve kits and titanium valves. Another consideration is traction. You'll have to stiffen up your suspension, motor mounts, and add a LSD to keep your wheels from hopping. Anyhoot, the point is; if you want a little more power and add on kit will give you just that, a little more power. But keep in mind that "if you want to play, you have to pay."

Darryl, your list is for the SRT4. That's way too much for his 2.0L, lol.
