I think that is the crankshaft sensor, and I don't believe they are interchangeable, which brings me back to my original hypothesis: is it possible for the camshaft sensor to be in the distributor?

On the site it lists THAT as the Camshaft Sensor ... I've replaced both in a V6 and gave you positions of both ...

Okay on the 2.0 and 2.4 4cyl engine mopar md327107 or 4882851aa cam shaft sensor kit, 2.5 the mopar 4807083 is the crank shaft sensor. The cam shaft sensor for the 2.5L is the distributor. You would need to replace the distributor, and replace cap and rotor too. When replacing the dist, you may have to remove the battery. If you disconnect the battery, be sure to clean the thottle blade. Because ECU will loose it memory for the idle speed motor. If you don't clean the throttle blade the engine will stall when coming to a stop.

Thanks a bunch! I was starting to think I was crazy for not seeing a camshaft sensor, because I heard quite a bit of conflicting info. Where exactly is the throttle blade?

That would be the throttle body.

The camshaft sensor is inside your distributor, Yes you have to replace the whole distributor. I had the same exact problem as you, But-- Even though my code read the camshaft sensor, I replaced the crank sensor first. The car started right up, And the camshaft sensor code was gone. It is very rare for the camshaft sensor to crash instantly usally your car starts to stall and gets worse until one day it doesnt start back up at all. I would change the crank sensor first. Its cheaper too. before you go spend 400 on a distributor. Its located directly under the distributor on the transmission. good luck.
