Default SCREEECH! Possible A/C issue

hey, new to the forum. I wanted to see if anybody can help with my 2000 dodge avenger. it screeches when I have the A/C is on and gets worse when i accelerate but when I turn it off it goes away. replaced a/c belt and even steering pump. Could it be the alt. belt instead? can anybody help me? thanks

Sounds like the compressor, but here's a few ways you can trouble shoot. Try putting a little WD-40 on the pulleys (alternator, power steering, crankshaft, etc.) one by one if this doesn't help, try tightening your serpentine belt a little bit and see if this stops the squealing. If not then your compressor may have bad bearings in it. GOOD LUCK

I can't say I'd recomend WD 40 ... it may damage the new belts you have installed ... maybe some belt dressing ... but spray on stuff is normally a bandaid ... I'd double check the belt tensions anymore then 1/4" deflection is too much

turns out to be a bad or loose serpentine belt. added belt dressing to it and the squeak went away but comes back. I'll change the belt instead when i get a chance. thanks!
