I have a 97 Avenger ES with the 2.5L V6 with 160k on it. This morning it started fine and also this afternoon. i drove about a mile this afternoon, and it sat for maybe 10 minutes. i went to go start it it turned over, went up to about 2 grand where it normally does, and then stalled. I tried again, and held the gas a little for a couple of seconds (it was at like 2.5-3 grand) and let off and it stalled again. I did this like 2 or 3 more times and it still stalled. Then i waited about 1 minute, tryed it again without the gas, and it idled fine. I was alittle bit less then 1/8 tank of gas and parked on a 5-10 degree incline. What could this be? the idle also drops really low sometimes when i come to a stop (like 250) and then bounces back up to the normal spot. Thanks for the help.

 

have you ran seafoam through the system recently? If not do that. Also clean out your EGR valve if not done.

 

Werd ... Its likely dirty intake tract clean with seafoam then clean the iac and egr
