Default New alternator, no start

I have a 1995 Avenger 2.0 4 cylinder. The charge light was coming on but everything seemed to function fine. Started up fine. Then one night it started losing power, windshield wipers slowing down, headlights dimming. And it just died on me. I tested the battery and it was still at 12 volts so I figured it had to be the alternator. So I replaced the alternator and even had them test my old one when I brought it in for the core charge. So I know the old one was junk. But I still can't get the car started. It cranks and cranks like it's just about to fire up but doesn't. And this is with jumper cables hooked up to keep the battery juiced. I doubt it is the plugs or wires not firing, it started up briefly the next day with the old alternator in but started losing power right away.

I hooked some jumper cables and the multimeter up and the battery charged up to about 13.8 volts before I tried it. The voltage only dropped as low as 9.8 volts while trying to start. Not sure if I was supposed to check without the cables though.

You need to LOAD TEST the battery , Take it to a parts store and have the battery tested
