Default Avenger vs Grand AM GT

Hey,
Does anyone know if Avenger V6(2.5l) can bit the crap out of Grand AM GT(3.1l or 3.4l)?

...agreed. By the specs of a 3.4l (175chp) it may seem close but they are geared differently than our 2.5l. That's one of the reasons why some A/S guys get the drive gears from the 4dr Stratus. The 3.0 may have a better chance at beating either car but not our 2.5s..sorry.

The Grand Am has significant advantage in torque 205 ft-lbs (3.4l Grand Am GT) vs. 170 ft-lbs (Avenger). The 3.4 liter is an OHV, which tends to have a flatter hp and torque curve verse a SOHC (like the 2.5)-and even more so than a DOHC. The Car & Driver numbers for the Grand Am GT that I have seen is 0-60 in 7.7 seconds. Here is a link to a sight that has Car & Driver's numbers on the Grand Am GT http://www.car-stats.com/stats/shows...tsgivenid.aspx. The best time I saw for a Stratus Coupe 3.0 auto on 0-60 was 8.5 (MotorTrend), and the fastest I have seen from the manual is 7.2 (also MotorTrend).

You will not beat a stock Grand Am with that lowly and pathetic 2.5L V6 in the Stratus. Swap out to a SRT-4 motor or maybe throw in a 3.5L from an Intrepid....then maybe just maybe you might be able to run with it.

I think you have your answer....
