Question Misfire # 6 1997 ES

I am getting a cel code. Code reader says misfire detected on number 6 cylinder. I replaced all spark plugs. What else would cause a code like this?
The cel came on 2 weeks after the plug change. 91,000 miles..I am the original owner since new.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

George

What brand plugs did you buy? I don't buy champion plugs anymore because I had 1 bad plug in 2 separate multi-packs. It sounds like you have a bad plug. Also disturbing the plug wires can cause them to start grounding to the engine. Could also be distributor cap is corroded on the #6 conductor.

Denso Iridium plugs. I was very careful with the plug wires. Of course that doesn't mean much. I will replace the dist. cap and rotor next. Remember, I did not get a CEL until 2 weeks after the plug change.

Is there a means to pinpoint the exact cause without randomly replacing parts??

Thanks for replying.

DO you have a bad fuel injector? I don't know much about your vehicle, but if you have a clogged up injector then obviously you would receive a misfire CEL.

Was there any sign of oil in the plug wells?
Bad wire /plug/rotor/cap/ distro/ or bad injector

If you suspect injector swap and see if code moves

injectors are probably cheaper than plug wires. They're real easy to change too, although not as easy as changing a plug wire.

Thanks for responding. No dead miss. Seems to miss a little at cold startup. Clears right up. Runs great under load, and warm idle. No oil in plug wells. Old plugs were clean but well worn.

Would injector cleaner help added to fuel?/ That is, if it's an injector.

I appreciate the help....
