TCC solenoid problems. need advice.
Hi everyone, I see no one has posted in this avenger forum in awhile but I'm hoping I can get a bit of advice as I'm going nuts with my Avenger.
My check engine light came on about 2 weeks ago. My mechanic changed my Transmission solenoid pack and I was in hopes that would be it. Just want to make sure to convey that my car is not hesitating, slipping making any odd sounds the trans is running fine. After he replaced the Trans solenoid pack the check engine light returned. He said the error code was coming up torque converter Clutch solenoid and told me to take it to a trans shop to have it diagnosed. So I did and they are telling me I need to replace the torque converter in complete which is going to cost 1200.00. I have been doing a lot of reading and I can't seem to find where the TCC solenoid is located in my 2000 Dodge avenger? Is it located inside the torque converter? If so does that mean I need to replace the torque converter? or if I do replace the torque converter will the error code still come up because the torque converter clutch solenoid is not internal? I hate taking my car to transmission places automatically its going to be change the transmission or in this case torque converter. I just have a gut feeling its a wiring issue and not the transmission at all. any advice would be greatly greatly appreciated!
