Default 1997 avenger v reg

Need a source for a V Reg for 1997 Avenger 2.5L that can be mounted external to the Alternator. The regulator in my PCM is bad so I need an independent VR.

Either replace the PCM, or, you are going to have to custom wire one. Of course, if you don't keep the PCM in the loop, it's going to whine about it.

So if I:
1. Leave the 12v supply voltage line (supply voltage sense) to the PCM in place.
2. Splice in a new wire from the above supply line to the new V-Reg + input.
3. Cut the field control line (alternator field return) to the PCM.
4. Splice in a new wire from the alternator field return to the new V-Reg field control input.
5. Ground the V-Reg.

Does the above seem correct? The PCM would still be sensing the supply voltage and might then be happy?

I am looking for a V-Reg that is compatible with the 1997 Avenger 2.5L. The alternator does not have an internal regulator, and if the regulator in the PCM goes bad, adding an independent V-Reg may be easier/cheaper than replacing the PCM.
