Default different motor for my avenger....

I am getting ready to come back on vacation from the navy and i am planning on making a motor swap to my 97 dodge avenger. It has the V6 in it right now, but its WAY to damn slow for me, but i love the car to death. I wanna know which would be better for it, a newer eclipse motor i.e., 3.0 V6, or would the dodge neon SRT4 motor be as good if not better. I am looking to turbochart the motor sometime in the future anyways, so would the Neon motor be better or not?

Swap the car in and get a Strtaus Coupe with the 3.0 Those cars are a natural progression of the Avenger with a Stratus name plate. A guy at work is putting a 2.4 [with a turbo kit] from a Stratus sedan in his Eclipse. He is a former Navy guy. Something strange going on here? I prefer a 4 cylinder with turbo myself.

as much as i like the newer cars, i just love my damn avenger to much to swap it out, i got big plans for it but i'd much rather spend money on a motor swap, and changed to a 5sp. than having to deal with buying a new car. just cheaper and i wanna see the look on my friends faces when i blow their *** away.. so i just wonder which motor is better for my car

How about putting a turbo on the V6 that you have now? ExileRacing and others make a kit for the 2.5L, they also sell bits and pieces for you to put it together on your own.
The Eclipse 3.0L won't fit either, you use only the block which is just a bored out 2.5. The head, intake, sensors, etc. from the 2.5 is still used. The 2.4L, as a whole, is too big but you can use bits and pieces. I can find out more about the 2.4L....but there really is only a tiny handful that will swap into our bays and....work without issues.
So, if you're willing to spend your "vacation" + more time working on your car, but you should really consider what your ultimate goal for your Venge really is. Is it more power (duh)? It can't be speed, because 130 is good for track times and I know you don't want more because you don't race on the streets Is it faster pickup? What is your "want"?

I've been on here beore and i see what you've done to your car, so could i go to a smaller motor, i.e., the eclipse gs-t motor? would that work because im really into getting my car to a 5spd. got a lil tired of the auto if u know what i mean. and of course i am all into speed, i also may make a track car out of it as well so what all do you think i should do, because i am looking for a different powerplant.

I was tired of my auto too, lol. The GS-T will work, it's the same as what I have now...just AWD. With a little more time you can make your Venge AWD also (with the 4G63 motor).

I forgot to mention that the 4g63 isn't a direct swap since the motor mounts are on different locations, but with some fabrication and patience, it'll work.

..as long as you can find a GS-T donor car...get it. Milage won't matter because you'll want to rebuild the motor anyway. You may want to research the motor a bit more too..it can be a nightmare if not properly cared for.
The 420 2.0L that comes with our cars can be swapped in also, it can be swapped with a manual tranny too.

Both motors are really not worth swapping in unless you rebuild either one though......since they would be out of the car anyway....

I dont think i'd have much a problem with the motor swap, although its not a direct fit its better than the V6 i have right now, i swear it couldnt get any slower or worse on gas, and i just had it serviced a few weeks ago hahaha.
