Default Hello from frozen Winnipeg

Just wanted to say a quick Hi to eveyone. I have a 98 Avenger ES. I've had it for 3 yrs now and it's been a great car. This forum has been an excellent source of info for me. I'm hoping to do some mods to my car this summer. When it's -30 c, like today, I don't want to be doing anything in the garage! I would like to start with some interior mods. More specifically, reverse glo-gauges and some interior painting. Does anyone know a place or website that would carry Canadian gauges? Also, has anyone ever painted their rims? What did you use, and how did they turn out? Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

Hi Funker22 and welcome to DF.

Speedhut and Import Intelligence has them in KM/H, you just have to let Speedhut know that you need them in KM/H for an extra $10.

I painted my stock rims and they turned out great. I did mine like this guy here...Painted rims.

Thanks SC. When you painted your rims, did you have to sand or smooth out any pits? If so, what kind of grit sandpaper did you use?

I found those gauges on line! Thanks.

I did sand mind. You have to so that the primer will have a better surface to stick to. Also, get sandable primer if you want to smooth out the texture of the stock rim.
I don't remember off hand what grit I used but I normally have 800 grit sitting around, so it's safe to assume that I used 800 grit . I only used the sandpaper to scuff up the rim but not to get the smooth look. I just wanted different colored stock rims.

Did you have to clean up the chrome rim around the wheels? I'm thinking of painting the 5 star factory rims I have a dark carbon grey color. There a little worn and there a aluminum color now. It's either grey or black. My car is dark green. What do you think? Any color recommendations that you've seen and liked? I'm open to suggestions. Anyway, the chrome rim is a little tarnished. Any ideas to clean it up? I want it to stand out.

I forgot to redo my chrome lip, but they weren't bad anyway. You can redo them by sanding off the old clearcoat, polish to a shine, and then recoat them with clear. You can also use chrome rim polish if the clearcoat isn't peeling off yet to touch it up a bit.
I think a dark color like Graphite or gray would look good with a green car.
