Default 760 miles + rusty old Dakota + $150 in gas + one blown tire =

A drive from St. Louis, Missouri to Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Recently I had to move and leave my beloved Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX behind. So I packed everything important to me in the old rusty V8 Dakota and hit the highway. I spent about $150 in gas for the trip, and it went very smoothly until about 50 miles from Co Springs, one of my tires tread separated, which proceeded to do severe damage to the underside of my already not very nice bed. But overall she was faithful, and got me here with few problems even though she has 202k miles and is long overdue for an oil change. The "work" truck has earned a permanent place in my heart for this. Thank you, Dakota.

I'm glad you came out okay. Always replace old tires!

Haha, yea, your tire took a crap 50 miles from destination, mine shelled the transfer case 40 miles from home (on a 700-mile trip)
I've been happy that it happened only 40 miles from home, and not half way thru the trip.

Yeah I have decided to fix her up, since she has been good to me and I no longer have my GSX to play with. Starting with new tires (I am thinking probably Bridgestone Revo 2s even though its 2x4, I still want it to have truck tires) and body work with fresh paint, then some engine upgrades (Mopar PCM, HS rollers, exhaust, maybe headers, maybe some kind of supercharger setup eventually though I can't for the life of me find a place online that sells kits for the Magnum V8s). I also plan to swap in a manual trans eventually, as I much prefer a stick shift anyday. She will be rewarded for her faithfulness over time as I have finances to work on her.
