In the 80's all around those years 70's-early 90's vehicle manufacturers used air pumps to dilute the exhaust gases for "CLEANER" emissions. It is a belt driven pump like a power steering pump that pumps fresh air into the exhaust, so it basically just dilutes/waters down the exhaust gases to pass emission tests. Instead of making a motor that is cleaner they just hide the problem. LOL

They are notorious for tons of problems. 80's engineering! LOL

The floor had apparently rusted out around the wheel areas, and they felt the need to use, in one location, a grout sponge, in another, a grinding wheel(or saw blade, cant tell), and in another location, believe it or not, an ocean spray juice bottle. All of these were affixed with household expanding insulation. The floor was made of rotting plywood.
My phone, and hence, camera was dead, but i will get pics another day.

When i saw that you got this for $500, i was like "ok, im scouring craigstlist right now" because i love this model of truck, and would like a spare(running, not just a parts truck). But then i saw how much was wrong with it. What i love, though, is that you can fix all that in a day or two.
i see some on craigslist every now and then for dirt cheap. the only way i got this one for this price was because the city was hounding my friends brother(the p.o.) about it sitting in driveway unregistered and he needed it out that night. lol he was kinda pissed when i jumped the starter off the battery and it started right up...lol

i'm still debating whether to get better fenders or rebuild these but the left door(and possibly the passenger one too) will have have to be replaced..or heavily welded...

once i get the grand prix down to my dad's house, i'll be pulling the bed off and dong some rust removal and some bed liner-ing of, well, damn near everything...lol

Lol, that's nuts. Can't believe I've never had a vehicle with one. I don't know what would be worse, gobs of vac lines or this vac pump.
