V8 318 5.2L gas mileage

Default V8 318 5.2L gas mileage

i have a 1994 dodge dakota sport with the 5.2L 318 v8 and im curious as to what all yall out there are getting in terms of mileage, i am getting somewhere in the region of 10-12mpg.

your type of driving has a big effect on mileage. Mine is a V6 5 speed 4wd. 12mpg around town. Get 20-21 on a trip.

OP, what you are gettin is quite low for what it is. my 93 CC (that I converted to a stick) was consistent 18-18 and a half, on a solid straight highway trip it would get 21-22. My current 92 that still has its auto, same CC size, same 3.55 gearing and the exact same computer that I used to use in the 93 gets 15-16 with an OD that is flaking out, it doesn't always hit OD like it should, lags in 3rd.

Glad to find this thread. Considering buying a 1998 5.2 Dakota, and was curious about gas mileage. Had a 3.9 Dakota previously and loved it. Currently have a 1997 5.9 Ram, great truck, but the mpg is terrible. If the 5.2 would average around 16 mpg, I would be happy.
