Thanks, HeyYou!! Used new gasket and some Indian Head, just in case. Locks up nice and tight.

Default Update on '89 Convertible Fuel Pump Change....

4th day. Tank installed, ROYAL PITA!! Couldn't get straps up/located to install new Dorman Gas Tank Bolts and U-Nuts. One of the U-nuts broke at the fold) Used threaded rods through the bed with heavy washers and lock washers top and bottom. Hillbilly-fix I know, but it worked. Replaced all fuel lines with CU-NI 5/16" stuff. Softer than steel, yes, but easier to form. Double-clamped ALL hose clamps. Started just fine........THEN gas pouring from top of tank! Not a few expletives! So....tank down (much easier with the threaded rods) and found the SUPPLY and RETURN lines loose, even tho' tightened to specs. REALLY tightened those puppies this time. Tank back up (MUCH easier with the threaded rod!!) and she runs.....PLUS NO LEAKS! At least so far. Will keep just a few gallons of gas in her until my confidence in her reliability returns. Next time.....IF there IS a next time.....Off with the BED!! Just out of curosity I ran the old fuel pump with a battery charger. Ran pretty good for being 30 years old. The bag filter, however, was SOLID BLACK!! cut it open and held it up to the sun and there was NO light coming through! I'm the Second owner and I use good gas and regularly add a fuel system cleaner. First owner was a stickler for regular maintenance, too!
