Default Gas leak on top of tank!

1989 Dakota 3.9 2WD. Need to lower my tank. I'm a one man show so I can't remove the bed. How low can I let it drop down without creating more issues? FYI she idles fine in park and in gear. I obviously was driving with the issue for a while.

have a convenient tree, and a ratchet strap? Either that, or a buddy you can draft? How much gas is in the tank?

Should be able to drop it yourself then. The tank itself doesn't weight much, it's the gas in it that makes it heavy. Lower the tank enough to disconnect everything from the pump, then lower the tank the rest of the way.
