Didn't know that about the tail gate guess I might as well put er' back on. I'm not planning on doing the headers for awhile. It's something I just want done lol. All she really needs is a good tune up.

yes definately put the tailgate back on the drag produced without it will eat your gas up something horible. I even went one step further on my sport and put a topper shell on. It keeps the air flowing over the truck.

My '78225 slant truck, 8ft bed, gets about 26MPG city, almost as good as my 2.5L Dak. I modified the hell out of it though. Something over the bed is a must. I gusseted my bed and usually don't run a tailgate unless I need it (weight),No fat tires. Synth oil. O/D trans, electric fan, no spare, light springs, spoilers to keep air out from under truck, lexan rear window, roll pan, lightest wheels I could find, lightweight seats, headers, low restriction intake and exhaust. Super tuned the carb, cam, aluminum intake, ported, roll pan, and other stuff I can't remember right know. I'm not saying you should do this to your truck, but there are lots of ways to improve gas milage if your creative and your needs are flexible. For the rust I see in the pictures. If your any good with a torch and a hammer, I would make my own out of spare sheet metal and braze or mig them in. A little bondo and some high build pimer and your good. It depends on your skills. The truck isn't going to last forever, but it can be fixed up pretty cheap and still serve her purpose and look presentable. Good luck.

Matt_S If you know where I can find a spare body molding, I am looking for the back corner of the driver's side bed. (that wraps around the rear under the taillight). I sure would appreciate it! Good luck with the sale
