i am wanting to put some subs in my truck and was wondering who else had some? Has anyone built a box to go under the back seat?

I assume its an extended cab right? I looked into building a custom box to fit into the under seat compartments and it wasnt worth it to me. Realistically the only size that would fit with enough airspace would be 8" s. That and I want to use the storage for tie downs, tools etc. I went with a single 10" JL audio sub in a slanted box that sits on top of the rear passenger seat. Works great!

Of course, if you wanted to go all out you could just remove the rear bench seats entirely, cut out the storage and build a complete custom box for your subs and amps.

At one time I took out the bottom storage of the rear seats and made a custom box with 2 12s. It work great. I keeped the seats there. So If I needed to Just put the seats down and you could sit or put junk back there. I took it out because I needed the space to put the jack and junkback, cause I got flat without it. So now I just have a small 10 in a smallbox that is easly removable. I just put it on the drivers rear seat. I have the amp under the seat.

I had to scrap my jack and things like that but I put two under the rear seats. I didn't want to sound like I was cruisin' da 'hood so it works great for me. I just removed the two covers for the jack and the other compartment and used the old covers for templetes for the new ones. Just measure the depth to make sure the subs will fit. I have two Rockford amps, one under each seat but I'm not crazy about that setup but no where else to put them.

I'm actually looking to do the same thing in my truck, and the only hope I've found thus far is looking for shallow mount subs. if you take the cover off of the under seat compartments, you do have enough room to fit a shallow mount in there, but I still don't know what you would do about an amp. maybe mount it under the front seats?

I will try and look at my subs tonight and let you know what I have in my truck but I think they may be Rockfords. And like I said, the only decent place to put my amps was under the seats. I didn't want to do that because of the heat but I have no problems for three years since the install.

OK, they are 8" Polk Audios, one in each well, and they fit well. Like I said, you won't compete in da 'hood but you don't need much in a truck cab to sound great.

Cool deal. That is all i wanted is a little bit of bass, like some 8's. I dont want it to rattle my stuff apart. I might try just putting one 10 under the seat for now and mount the amp where the jack goes. i dont have it in there anyways, got it all in the toolbox in the back!

here is an example of what happens when you decide your windsheild needs an attitude adjustment! Ok, so this overkill project is Dirty Beds IDBL truck so obviously we wanted as much bang as we could fit behind the B pillars, And for those who want to know the WIDEST box that you can fit into a dak cab is 56 and 7/8" without carpet!!! and thats with the interior panels out, door moulding pulled out of the way, and 3 guys shoving it in.

But I have seen someone remove the lids of that compartment area, and put two quality 10" subs in covered by a "false lid" black cloth. Total stealth install, and sounded really clean and loud.

Is he trying to win some competitions with that getup or just wants to make one heck of an entrance?
