Default What you do to get traction in the snow/rain?

For you 2WD drivers out there what do you do to get better traction in the snow or rain besides adding weight like sandbags? My tires are decent but I used to be a tire guy so I'm gonna get some M+S rated tires so that should help but still isnt the greatest driving a one tire fire truck, I was also thinking about putting in a Phatom Grip LSD conversion since i have it on my other car and it works just fine, but I don't wanna spend $300 bucks. Let me know what you guys think!

The best thing will be a lsd or a locker. They do start about 300. Unfortaly there might not be anyother opitions for it. Maybe go look at some junkyards. check to see if any have a lsd already in it. and buy it. most dakotas have the same rear end. even some jeeps do to. just serch around. You could also weld up your spiders but this is not a good Idea for the street. You can always get snow chains or ropes. Some people say just push the brake a little at the same time as the gas and this will help hold that lose tire from spining. Good luck!

I was going to say I put it in 4 wheel drive, but then I read you have a 2wd. Fill a bunch of bags with dirt and toss them in the box. And make sure your back tires are as good as it gets for ice and snow.

without spending a whole bunch of money you could lower your tire pressures, add weight and learn how to feather the throttle and control a 4 wheel slide! Yeah baby!

buy a 4WD...nah just kidding. i have alot of problems in rain also. there isnt much snow here(maybe once or twice a year you will wake up to an inch) and when it does, the whole town shuts down so you dont have to worry about going anywhere. haha. but i have learned to feather the throttle...but i do agree with crazy, you dont have a whole lot of options if you dont want to add sand bags or some kind of weight.

I have a 4x4 and 2x4 so when it snows I just drive my 4wd, then I don't have to worry

Expensive, but worth having a can in the truck along with chains in winter.

There are other sprays that compete with above

Even if you don't use it
you will find spraying it on other peoples tires
can make you a hero in certain circumstances

I never added any weight to mine. I put on a set of Michelin LTX M/S and didn't hit the gas as hard. No problems, ever.
