Default mopar performance computer

Has anyone used on of these yet? i can get one for about $320 from summit. I have decided to not go carb on my truck.... i am going to swap the computer instead. I have a long block 318 magnum, so all i need is the intake with all of the stuff on it(fuel injectors, throttle body, ect....), distributor, valve covers, and an oil pan. all of the accesories will bolt of from my 3.9, i already cross referenced them and the are new. i do have a question though, how do you wire the two new injectors? I know you you just run it into the plug for the pcm, but what else? so it should not be to bad of a swap hopefully! i am going to stick with the 42re till it dies and then get a 46re probably....

I do remember reading somewhere that they quit making those computers, and I believe that they said they were good.

As for the two extra injector wiring, I would imagine you hit the jackpot. I would just use a high quality wire, same gauge as the rest. You will also need to purchase the injector-side connectors to wire up.I don't think you would need to do any other modifications to the wiring, maybe extend wiring for a few things (I can think of: coolant temp sensors, maybe the other injectors) since the 5.2L sits farther forward in the engine compartment.

I have a mopar computer. I love it. They are better then stock. It should be an easy job. Just cut the connectors from the junkyard truck. The connectors for early injectors (pre 99) are a universal injector connector. So if you cant find a dakota search around other vechicles. I belive the positive is commen for all injectors. while the ground connects to the computer. And of coarse there are the eletrical wiring diagrams in FAQ.

o duhhh, i have a factory service manual with the diagram, it has been a long day.... does the mopar computer do away with the speed limiter and rev limiter? the jet chip took the speed limiter out but no rev, but hopefully i will have enough power i dont have to turn it up so high!

I believe this is true... but wait for Crazy4x4RT to reply, as he should know for real.

The extra other two-cylinders on the 5.2L are on the back of the motor. Might look into getting the wiring harness from a junked V8.

When are you thinking of doing the swap?

Well for mine computer stock and mopar per. Does not have a rev. or speed limiter. But Mine is OBD1. I belive thattheobd2 systems like yours may have it.The only kind of speed limiter I know of is the gov. of the tranny. I may be wrong.
