Default Clutch fluid leaking at clutch housing

Hmmmmm, could it just be the seal or is it something bigger? The clutch is not engaging unless I put it into gear when the truck is turned off and then it makes one heck of a horrible noise. There is clutch fluid in nthe reservoirs - not at the top though because it is clearly leaking out. I have replaced clutches before in older cars that I have owned - I am sure that I can do it in the truck as well if need be. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated (I lost my darn manual). ARGGGHHHHHHHH

Maybe a bad slave cylinder, in which case youmay have to drop the transmission to replace....at least that's what happened to me with a Ford Exploder I owned. If you can't find your manual, you might try the library - somelibraries have them.

If the slave cylinder is leaking it is easy to change. The slave, lines and mastercylinder are all replaced as one piece .The lines are pressed together hot, just like the ends on plastic fuel lines. I would grab one from pick a part yard. Then if it's another issue that you didn't see, you only have a few dollars invested in spare parts. If you ever have to change the clutch, leave the trans in. I drop the drive shft. Take the frame bolts out of crossmember.Block up engine and support trans with floorjack pointing straight back.Seperate the two with a prybar. Just remember the lip that the crossmember sits on only goes a little ways back.

injmopar, how would you like to come and help me out...LOL. Right, thanks for all the information. I will start with what you said. If I get the part first then I will know what it looks like and what to replace. That may sound girlie.....but......oh yeah, I am a girl :-P Thanks again for the quick reply. I will let you know what happens

Well that is just plain sad that I don't live by you. Seems as though I will just have to live with getting MY hands greasy and breaking my fingernails again. I wonder if my patients think I am gross when my hands look lilke that?! LOL Anyway, I don't even know how to get to the slave cylinder, but I plan on tackling the project this Sunday (hopefully anyway). Arizona is cold. Sheesh........LOL
