Default headlights

I have a 96 dakota 3.9L, this morning when I was heading to work, the headlights came on. I drove roughly a mile to the gas station and when I left i got about a quarter mile down the road. Both headlights popped off and died. I trieded pulling the switch a few times and nothing....everything else on the truck works good. If you hold the highbeams they also work.

So...I checked the fuse box, In the manual it said the headlights were connected to a circuit breaker type fuseunder the hood in the front...checked that got a new one and still nothing....where do I go from here?

Did you change your bulbs with aftermarket ones? I burned out 3 switches in 2 months with my Xenon bulbs, It must have been drawing too much power and just started melting itself... I just went to the junk yard and got a diffrent switch. Hope that helps.

nope, no aftermarket, just regular bulbs...when you put the bulbs in, you arent supposed to let your ski touch them in anyway, the oils and stuff burns then up and blows them out.

yea, a weird thing happened i tried them at my lunch again....the lights worked and have been working since? They are not aftermarket bulbs, just regular replacements.

Do you think I have a loose connection, or a switch going bad? I don't want it to happen again.
