Some yes, some no.

Remember, the 1995 and earlier used SBECs or SMECs; the 1996 is a JTEC, completely different CPU and with OBDII coming in for 1996, some changes in the cab harness and the bulkhead harness also.

OTOH, all you need to add is the two extra injector wires, and swap to a V8 ECU, for the wiring.

I have a 96 5.2 auto computer is sell dirt cheap if you're interested. I put a 5.9 in my truck.

 

What transmission did you use?

 

stock trans. Same as the 3/4 tons gassers got anyway. That computer I had is long gone though.

 

Will the trany out of a 96 1500 with the 318 plug into my truck or will I have to stick with the v6 trany

 

of course. Why wouldn't it?

 

well I've got the 3.9 transmission and I didn't know if I'd have to change the wires on the trany to fit the v8 trany. Just trying to get all my ducks in a row before I commit cause my daily driver...
