Default 1987 Dakota V8 Swap

I have an 87 with a 3.9 auto. What do i need to do to get more clearance in front of the motor, as it looks like the water pump would be very close to the radiator without the fan on. Anything else to think about besides mounts, as in wiring, etc.?
Thanks,
Matt

you could swap the 'aero' style front end onto yours, that would give you the clearance you would need, you'd need the hood, the headlights, the grill, bumper, and the core support would also need to be swapped, then you'd have the room you need for that V8

the mounts from either will work, but I think the 6 and the 8 used the same mounts, if not that early they definitely did when the magnums rolled out.

The 71 has front motor mount ears, and the 87 truck has mid mount pads. You need a newer motor or spend $400 on custom mounts. Or do you have a welder.

just make a plate to adapt the old mounting spot to the mounts that are needed now and you should be fine.

yeup , I did the same thing to my 87, I moved it 2 1/4 inches back to have clearance for the waterpump, and I put an electric fan on the front of the rad. Ill show you pictures of the mounts we made
