Default Sputtering

I have a 91 Dodge Daokta 5.2 liter and I loose power and it backfiresthrough the carb. I have changed the fuel filter, added the faucet (?),had the injectors and induction cleaned and I also removed and replaced the cat. converter. This does not happen everyday, but when it does I have to turn the truck off, let it sit for a minute and then restart. It is a pain in the butt and I can not seem to figure out the problem. HELP!!!

Have you checked the fuel pressure with a gauge?

There are so many different things that could be wrong it's crazy. You should get a Haynes or Chilton manual.

And also if you have injectors you have a throttle body , not a carb.

It could be crank sensor, cam sensor, or pcm. Or timing chain.

k- my boyfriend is outside so I am the question girl. So if we have a throttle body could something else need to be checked? He is currently checking the vac hoses, and is going to drop the tank and clean it. We got the truck from a guy who drove it like once a week to the store a block from his housde so we are thinking gunk in the tank clogging the filter? Going to borrow a gauge to check the pressure.
He going nuts with this truck. Any suggestions as to what anyone might think or we should check would be great. Have manual but can't seem to find the damn thing.

If you have a manual check the IAC and TPS on the TB . Take them out and clean them . Clean the IAC first and try it.

Also , is the CEL on ? Read the manual and it will tell you how to check for stored codes. You say you replaced the cat. converter , but what about the 02 sensors?

misplaced manual - he is driving himself nuts looking for that too. Is there an free online one? Didn't replace cat, removed, did the same thing so he put it back on. Girlfriend asking this so I don't bug him - whay is CEL, IAC and TPS? If he has to answer me he the might go nuts. I am the curious/learner type, who is trying to help.
