3.9 to 5.2 swap
I was wondering about the same but for a 93 3.9 -5.2 swap, you probably need a new computer for the 5.2, and im wondering if the fuel pumps are different? the newer 3.9 is basically just a shortened 5.2 so the parts you need for a swap are minimal, if your 3.9 is carbeurated then you may have to redo your fuel lines and all that too.
Need a higher flow fuel pump, the correct balanced flywheel or flexplate for the 5.2L (it is different), possibly larger fuel lines as mentioned, larger radiator, new PCM. If it's an auto I'm sure the current one won't hold up to the extra power. If it's a manual, you'll need a new clutch & pressure plate.
Stage 1 88 Dakota 2.2 5 speed
Stage2 changed to bellhousing from v6, M1 intake on 95 5.2 magnum
orange box and distributor ,electric pump, v6 mounts , v8 Y pipe
replaced viscous with electric fan to clear rad.
Stage3 inprogress, changing to overdrive with shift kit, 8 3/4 diff, EFI
Go for it, ounce you start all the parts will fit into place. It can all be done with
factory parts

6 and 8 motor mounts should be the same, like it was said, if yours is carbourated, the fuel syatem is totally different. You will need a 92 up wiring and computer. 92 up v6 and v8 radiator are the same. Trim the fan shroud.
Anything is possible with a welding rod and the grace of god. From what I have seen, it should be easy. Manual transmission and carbuerator is even easier. Find a v8 distributor and make sure it plugs in.

Hey TYhoppy did you do the swap? I have an 89 with a 3.9 TBI that I am swapping out for a carbed 318. I bought an aftermarket crossmember from chassis componets, I beleive that was the name, and bolted to the frame as well as welding the mount to the croosmember. I also bought a oil pan from a place in washington, it is a milidon pan. I am pulling out the computer and putting in a MOPAR electric distributor.
they do make carb intakes for the mag engines. picked one up when i got my 360 rt motor. speakin of 360 why even bother putting a 318 in when you can do a 360 just the same!!! all these dodge forums and sites and no one is putting 360's in gen 1 and 2 daks. ive got a 96 dak moss green sprt excab, 18 chrome kruz wheels, 99 leather buckets from durango, 4 12's and 2200 watts. got the 3.9 in at the moment but have a 99 360 rt motor that im waiting bearings and rings. got everything to make fuel inj. but can also make carb
