December sucked!
The only good thing about this yeas December was christmas. I got 2 cool GPS units for chirstmas. And for the 1st year in 6 or more I accully got it off too.
Now the rest of my problems. It all hit me in december. Im going to try to knock it down one by one. I had to get my truck towed home ($95) the other night as the wires were giving me problems, melted several. I had to bypassed all the wires besides the computer power just so I can get to work. Tomarrow Im off and spend all day chasing down what is shorted.
I had the tranny rebuilt last feb. and now its starting to give me sliping problems only in 1st and at full throttle. I will take it back in for warrenty when ever I can get by with out it. I found 3 tranny leaks one on the line one on the pan gasket one coming from the tranny oil dip stick tube.
I also now need all 4 tie rod ends and idler arm and pitman arm. I think the lift and 33s is wearing out these joints fast!
My O2 sensor went out. My seat mechinisum broke. I had to weld it up. One tire wore out fast. I had a spare. I need an aliment after the steering system repaced. This truck is getting old. 16yrs now! 163,000 miles. And all of the years I took off of her by pushing her to her limts!
Besides the truck I just got a new battery for my laptop. So I was tied down by the cord. Then I got the new battery (It lastsed 6hrs straight) Then a week later my power supply died. NO one in town had one I had to wait a week.
Ya this post is all about complaining! But I thought I just share my trubbles.
Oh on 2 postive notes I built a bike rack for the truck for the hitch. When I go camping, I use the shell and there is no room for the bike. I built it so you can drop the tailgate and can store tools like shovels axes and all. Im going to build a hitch in front so I can use the rack or a winch when I get a nice one.
The other is the GPS. I love it! I used to have 31s long time ago, I got my speedo calibrated. Now with 33s its off. So with the GPS It showed I was over by 1mph untill 55. Then under 2 till 65. At 75 its under by 4. So for others that is what larger tires will do. So 2in of tire lift will get you that far off.
Heres a pic of the bike rack.
So was your guys December as bad as mine was!

Nice rack, lol. But really, looks good!
I hear ya on truck problems. Tearing apart mines front end was going good, up until I sheared that shock bolt in the lower control arm, and also finding out no one carries the lower control arm bushings any more. I've started drilling through the old bolt, which is going "ok," but I've been lazy, so I haven't gotten far! (Got the new car, so no need to get my truck up and running fast, now that I have the Honda as the "new" second vehicle) My "replace the parts and get the truck back on the road" is probably gonna turn into a more in-depth seek-and-destroy "possible future problems" adventure, since I've got half the truck torn apart anyways.
My desktop computer blew it's graphics card in November, and replaced that in the middle of December.
Of course, I've had my good stuff too. Finally got the OSB board up on one side of the wall in the garage. Also installed my new circuit breaker panel in the garage, too. Allowing me to finally install conduit and 3 live electrical boxes. Was able to mount, wire, and use my 60-gallon air compressor, too. My garage is starting to look like people work on cars in there!!
At the end of the day, I figure, these trucks are 13+ years old. They can go a long way, for sure, but they need some "convincing," and TLC sometimes. I'll do it for the truck, first vehicle I've bought, and as much as I might swear at it, I love it!
And good luck this month. Hope it turns out better for ya.

Man crazy that sux but let me tell you got have some bad with all the good in these trucks.
I've been so busy I havn't even been able to work on my dak that much makes me angry everyday i come home. Im still in the body lift stage.
Got all the blocks installed, the brackets marked, and the linkage is out but still needs to be welded only problem is im out of accelylene and i don't have no mig or tig welder.
Then my fan clutch went out so i busted that out and ordered a 16" pro comp electric fan
Then my headlight switch went out while i was jump startin my dad's Ram.
Ha Ha and all my steering componts are crap too lol they were like that before all the modin there still good until I break a tie rod lol.
My main worry still is my crank sensor I got from Autozone they looked exactly the same but the new wouldn't go in the connector?? So its not sendin a code yet but I still don't think its workin right so I need to check that too.
And on top all that my mom bonnie blew an injector. Not been my month either but ehhh can't have the good without the bad.
Hope you get ur wiring fixed and all goes well with your truck

bike rack looks good, i have been wanting to make one of those too. i need to replace all my stuff up front too, just the ball joints and tierods hopefullt, i swaped the front end bushing a year ago and put some really cheap ball joints and tie rods in there so i get to do that over again now. still have to fix my tranny mount too, whenever i get on it real hard i can hear the tranny hit the tunnel, so i am sure i am going to be breaking a motor mount too here pretty soon, lol. so you are not the only one that is having troubles with there daakota, but for all of the stuff mine has been trough, i guess it can act up a little once and a while.
hmm, I guess I got away with a decent december. Wi. got about twice its average of snow last month and the snowblower went out, but other than shoveling my dak was the nicest thing i've driven through a snowstorm. I did however find that my "touring" tires just dont have enough bite to make it through a foot and a half of the extra wet/heavy stuff. That of course was all fine and dandy till january rolled around. Just took my truck into the local shop to figure out my power loss issues, and they suspect the fuel pump. I noticed the rail was a little on the low side, but after they put on the gauges and drove it, they said the volume dropped of a lot up the rpm's. Kind of pisses me off because I had intended on replacing the pump last summer when I had the money, but never got around to it!
now I have an excuse to pull the bed, get a good look at the rust on the frame, and hopefully fill in the nice holes i left from my first exhaust job XD (side note, don't be like me, and be too cheap even for flux core wire... I just got cheap and impatient and now I got leaks all up the exhaust.)

Thanks at least I know now Im not the only one. I got a lot done past 2 days I found the problem. The damn egr wire was shorting out and casing all of my electrical problmes. I had to completely take out the wires so I can cut off the shrouding and check everywire. I found lots of potentail problems.
I repaired one trans leak. And replaced the inner cv axle boots. I still have lots to do.

glad to hear you've made some progress, even if theres still lots left to do!
I've got a growing list on mine, too...waiting for a non-rainy day to be able to get started on it.
I like your bike rack! I've got a Yakima one, but I like the look of yours a lot better....I can't open my tailgate with mine.

Okay January is the best month ever. My baby came. It was 2 months early but she is healthy. I know its off subject but just wanted to put it out there.
Now for the truck stuff. I have taken the truck back for warranty on the transmission. I got it back today. Its better. But not 100% more like 90%. But for this BS shop thats perfect.
I changed out all 4 tie rod ends and will get an aliment tomorrow. I'm going with Firestone's lifetime service.
I fixed several of all the small things that were wrong with the truck. Everything is getting better now! How is everyones january going?

Congratulations on the baby!!
My January is going good so far, but school takes up almost all of my time. We finally got a fair amount of snow around here, which hasn't happened in a long time, so I got take the truck out and slide around in it for a while. Gotta love 4 wheel drive.

December sucked for my truck also. Heater core went out, still isn't perfect. Knocking noise in 4X4, tail light wiring corroded from previous owner, water pump went out, faulty thermostat. Not as major as your December problems but still no fun.
January seems to be better.
When it warms up I think a lot of us have a to do list.
