Were there any lifted 2wds?? I want my truck lifted, but it seems like everyone here has 4x4s? Can you lift it or is it just that not many people here own a 2wd. Great pics everyone!! I hope to post some soon!

you can lift a 2wd but it doesnt look nearly as good because it doesnt have the straight front axel.

Yes you can lift a 2wd. Check the FAQ2 in this section. I have done it.

The 4wd don't have a straight axle. It has IFS.

A lifted 2wd looks like a normal 4wd. And you can't see any drivetrain/suspension parts unless your under the truck or at least on one knee.

Some new photos of my 'mini-truck' dakota nothing new on it, well other than I finished off the box tubs. Kind of gotten bored of customizing it

Or unless you have an open bed like mine

I also put two new fatter tires in the rear, now running 255/35ZR20s in the rear and 225/35ZR20s in the front. I may do some more work this winter, kinda want to change it up and make it fresh.

That freaking bumper was re-painted twice, yet it still keeps getting bumped up lol. I give up on trying to keep it clean.

I may decide to body drop it instead, currently sitting 3" from rocker to ground which isn't to bad I still need to fabricate a bracket for my engine driven compressor and plumb it up, the pictures above was a local mini-truck show pretty much the only time it was out this summer so far.

LOL! Nice! Ya I wasn't expecting that!

I don't think you have a write up on your truck. If you can, can you do a write up with full details on all modifications and pictures? We get a good amount of questions of how to lower it. I can post it in the FAQ2 for others to see.

No problem, when I get a chance I'll go through the parts we needed/used to build the front drop (I know I used 2" Belltech Drop Spindles) and how we did the triangulated 4 link and notch. All of it was designed and built by me and my buddies in my shop. There are NO parts available for our trucks (as you probably know) basically was trial and error.

To be honest fabrication is really just a hobby of mine, I am a Project Manager by day and a do it yourselfer by night

But if you are or have someone who can weld good available I would be glad to answer any questions you have in building a setup.

You can buy universal fabricator kits from companies like Grant Customs or Suicidedoors.com, suicide doors is the best resource and cheapest for good quality parts for dropping a truck.

One definite recommendation is allow yourself a good 1-2 months + a few extra weeks for unforeseen problems to do the build, take your time, measure 5 times cut/weld once and make sure you have all the parts in before you begin. The notch and linking should only take 1-2 weeks to install properly but then you have to consider the air lines, new gas tank (or put the stock one in the bed which looks ugly as sin) and extending wires for the tailights and the proportioning valve for the brake system.

Keep a good healthy stock of cutoff and grinding disks and ensure your welding tank is always full (very big pissoff when your welding and it runs out just as your making progress).

TBH I'm not sure why more people just don't give it a shot, it isn't really hard to do at all, just time consuming.

And yes Crazy4x4RT I still owe you a full writeup of how we did it I haven't forgotten I have just been super busy.

Default Wow Nice dropped dakota

Very nice on the drop dakota there. I got quite a bit of question to ask in relation to your air bag system, custom grill, and electronics in it. I aswell am trying to drop my 92 v6 dakota, and was undering what type of bags did you use, hose run through of your dakota, and the wiring layout. Do you have the air bag system working independently or front to back biasis. Also cause I live out of town in a hick province of canada (Its the closet thing we got to the U.S) Are you able to just use a propane tank for the air tank, because it fits and I believe it can easily hold the compress air. And how bout the custom grill, did you get it prefab or custom built cause during the new years I am building mine, (more like hand making mine with a hammer and duck tap lol.) If you could make a thread talking about your lowering it would be grateful, I am the only one in my town who is going for the whole lowering look and shocking enough I am like the only dodge guy here. "First Gen that is" Though I have a couple of people who are trying to copy the same style of my truck and I reached my limit point of my knowledge, and would like to lower it aswell. Thanks and merry Christmass...
