Ok as long as thats not bad for it, and if I get a chance to I should probably check the converter bolts and the flex plate, though if anyone knows what the scraping sounds from just post because I still would like to know

I was wondering, what V8 engines can be put into an 87 Dakota besides the 318 and how much extra space is left,

like for example ive read that there isnt enouph space to put a regular fan in with the 318 but that it could fit

Crazy4x4RT put a 360 into his. his is a '93 but its the same body. im not sure of the biggest you could put in, 95_318SLT said hes got a build going, but i cant remember the size of the engine hes putting in....

408 stroker. (got the pistons ordered, I can get the block machined when they get here :P )

The 408 I'm building is still the same block that Crazy4x4RT has, the 360. In fact, the 318 has the same exterior as the 360 with different insides. Any small block mopar will fit. I've heard of people putting in 440 big blocks, but I wouldn't be able to tell you about clearance issues.

i heard that a 440 big block wouldnt fit without cutting into the firewall. which could cause a lot of problems if you dont know how to do it properly. it could comprimise the whole integrity of the body...

You could be right... like I said I don't know any info about it, I've just heard of it being done. There was a guy on here not too long ago that was talking about putting a 383 big block in his truck, which is externally the same block as the 440. He hasn't posted any recent updates though.

LMAO! That, or I scared him off for calling him out on putting such a small big block in his truck :P (which I found out after the fact that it was a built motor and actually has a lot of power)

yes crazy4x4rt did put a 360 in his 93 but after 90 or 2 i believe they extended the front end a bit to make room for the V8s which he already had in his dodge, he just went from a 5.2L to a 5.9L
